Bottle bundles, shipping and "free" offers: working out the real cost
By the Well Review Notes editor · Updated · 5 min read
How bundle pricing works
Supplement and cream offers are often sold in packs of one, three or six. The per-bottle price drops as the pack grows, so a single bottle can cost almost twice as much per bottle as one in a six-pack. That's a real saving only if you'll use all six, and a big up-front spend if you won't.
Work out the cost per day
- Find the total for the pack, including shipping and tax.
- Find the days of supply per bottle (servings per bottle divided by servings per day).
- Divide the total by the total days of supply.
Do the same for each pack size. The cheapest per day isn't always the right choice: if you're trying something for the first time, the smallest pack limits what you risk.
Shipping
Small packs often carry a shipping charge that larger bundles drop. Check the order form for the shipping line and the delivery estimate, especially if you're outside the US.
"Free + shipping" offers
Some offers give the product away and charge only shipping and handling. Before you pay, check three things on the order form:
- whether you're also being signed up for a recurring shipment or membership;
- the exact amount charged today and on what date anything else will be charged;
- how to cancel, and whether the free item can be refunded at all.
Upgrades after checkout
After you pay, you may see one or more pages offering extra bottles or related products. Each "yes" is a separate charge with its own order number. "No thanks" links are often smaller and placed below the main button.
How our scores treat pricing
Hidden shipping, unclear recurring charges and inflated "regular" prices lower the pricing honesty score. A clear bundle table with shipping stated scores well. How we review
Frequently asked questions
Only per bottle. If you stop after one bottle, a large pack costs you more, and refunding unused bottles depends on the seller's conditions.
It's a common incentive to choose a larger bundle. Compare totals, not shipping lines.
